Our story
The company CATELLI FILATI was founded by Ubaldo Catelli in 1951, producing for over 40 years sewing threads for the footwear, leather goods,
furniture, clothing, mattress, quilting sectors, etc. In 1994, following the death of Ubaldo Catelli, the company was taken over by his daughter Mariacarla Catelli, who continued her father's work by also introducing new production technologies and increasingly modern machinery; in 1999 the company became “CATELLI FILATI S.r.l.”: Mrs. Mariacarla Catelli was joined by her sons Massimo Carruba and Riccardo Carruba.
The use of top-quality yarns and auxiliaries, the use of high-tech machinery, and the continuous pursuit of product quality have been, since the foundation, distinctive and recognized features, and thanks to these, the Company operates both in the national and international markets. The production activity, initially established to produce exclusively 100% cotton yarn, has always evolved according to market trends, specializing from commonly used sewing threads, which include synthetic polyester both in continuous fiber and cotton-cut staple, up to covered yarns made with a special treatment. The main production, therefore, includes: 100% continuous HT polyester (ROYAL), 100% continuous HT polyamide 6.6 (MAXI), 100% staple polyester (RIKI), polyester covered with 100% glossy or soft cotton (POL – COT). Furthermore, to better meet every need and offer a wider range of yarns, the Company also produces: polyester covered with polyester (KARL); glossy cotton (STICK); mercerized cotton (STICK); crochet yarn (ROYAL); yarns with high mechanical properties, high resistance to heat and abrasion such as KEVLAR, NOMEX, DYNEMA. The company is equipped with an in-house dyeing facility where dyeing, lubrication, and yarn control are carried out, and where it is possible to meet any request for custom color samples.
